ROUTE 2. THE LOMBARDS IN THE FRIULI VENEZIA GIULIA REGION
Departure from GRADO on a bus equipped with a bicycle rack to discover the Lombard settlements in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region in ROMANS D'ISONZO and CIVIDALE DEL FRIULI
The HOP-ON HOP-OFF service: you can hop-on and off as many times as you wish, alternating bus and bike rides.
In ROMANS D'ISONZO, there will be a 30-minute stop to enable you to take part in a guided tour of the Archaeological Civic Museum;then you hop back onto the bus and immerse yourself in the Lombard atmosphere of CIVIDALE DEL FRIULI, the starting point of the Lombard itinerary in Italy, recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.
At the Friuli Venezia Giulia Tourist Info Point, you can pick up your free audio guide to visit the city on your own: the TEMPIETTO (The Temple), one of the most extraordinary and mysterious items of early western medieval architecture is an absolute must-see.
You will be able to visit the Virtual Balcony, a new multi-media area at the Palazzo ex-Monte di Pietà in Piazza Paolo Diacono until 1.30 p.m.
The Immersive Room can be visited by purchasing the entrance ticket to the Monastery/Tempietto (or by showing your FVG card), during the Monastery opening hours 10.00 a.m. -1.00 p.m./3 p.m.- 6 p.m.
You can choose whether to stay in Cividale until the bus departs at 5.25 p.m. or to go to Cormòns at 3.30 p.m. and let yourself be enthralled by the enchanting Hapsburg-style town, today the heart and symbol of the Collio area. Return trip from Cormòns to Grado at 6 p.m.
